1/3 of the Bookery Cook (Maxie) team has now relocated in NYC… she will be blogging from her culinary adventures over there! And for her other adventures (not so food related) check out her personal blog Designersaur.
I arrived at our hotel (staying right in Soho) by 8pm, smelling like I’d been sitting on a plane for 22 hrs with that sort of frazzled hair and dazed eyes, and due to my inability to eat plane food (microwave chicken, creamy pasta bake and stringy beef is just not for me), I was ABSOLUTELY starving.
First stop shower, second stop food/wine, third stop sleeping horizontally!
I stumbled (with the advice of a friend) on a cool looking pizza place called ‘L’asso‘. Think big wood fired oven in the corner, red brick walls and total babes of staff.
L’assos claim to fame is that it uses only the finest, most nutritious and delicious ingredients: the highest quality Unbleached and Unbromated flour, hormone and anti-biotic free chicken, organic gluten free pasta (any way you like it), limited gluten free pizzas and delicious homemade pastries and desserts.
My friend and new travelling companion/fellow food lover Lauren ordered a San Daniele (small for $17 which was the size of a normal large pizza anyway) which had on: tomato sauce, mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto, parmesan & extra virgin olive oil. And to drink a glass of pinot ($12).
Me, craving something fresh after airport food and sitting on my ass (I’m in America now I can say ass right?) for close to 50hrs, ordered a Nizza salad (that’s New York for Nicoise salad) for $15, which was massive and so delicious full of organic tuna, capers, lettuce and egg and thankfully with a nice light balsamic dressing and not covered in salad cream! And to drink a glass of Marlbec ($10) which was equally as delicious and a lot nicer than plane wine!
Due to me being hungry crazy lady- there is no picture of my salad!
Excuse the rubbish quality of my photos- as I was experiencing some crazy post flight veritgo and couldn’t hold anything straight! I have recently purchased a good canon so am off to buy a new lens for it today so expected better (and lots more) photos!!
I’m off to breakfast and filter coffee!
